Sheaves & Sprockets

Escalator sheaves and sprockets are both mechanical components that are used in the operation of an escalator.

An escalator sheave is a type of pulley that is used to guide the escalator handrail along its path. The sheave is mounted on a shaft and is designed to rotate freely, allowing the handrail to move smoothly and evenly. The sheave is typically located at the top and bottom of the escalator, and may also be located at intermediate points along the escalator's path.

A sprocket is another type of rotating mechanical component that is used to drive the escalator steps. The sprocket is connected to a motor via a chain, and as the motor turns the sprocket, the chain moves, causing the steps to move as well. Sprockets are typically located at the top and bottom of the escalator, and may also be located at intermediate points along the escalator's path.

Both escalator sheaves and sprockets are critical components that must be properly maintained in order for the escalator to operate safely and efficiently. Regular inspection, lubrication, and replacement of worn or damaged components are essential to ensure the ongoing safe operation of the escalator.
